The Chisholm's: Kathy & Doug, and Ryley & Gunnar
Saturday, May 24, 2008

Wow, has it really been two years since we last blogged? Ryley & Gunnar are finishing up preschool next week and off to Kindergarten this fall. We also adopted Sidney, a 2-3 year old corgy.

JoJo was in Colorado

JoJo was in Colorado for what is our favorite time of year (next to ski season, of course). And somehow she managed to show up at a time when we were all healthy! The kids had a great time, Ryley finally potty trained and Gunnar has begun to give up sucking his thumb. We took JoJo out to Anderson farms where we each picked out our own pumpkin, then went for tractor ride, petted some farm animals and rode many rides.

Preschool photos

They are growing up before our eyes. Preschool has been great for both of them.
Their favorite show is Backyardigans (on Nick Jr). They love exploring outside; Ryley always manages to find the big ugly spiders and Gunnar always manages to come back inside covered in dirt from head to toe. They have a new friend at home, her name is Sidney (a 2 year old Welsh Corgi)

Three years old and growing....

Hard to believe they start preschool next week, but its been a busy summer and they (and we) are definitely ready for it. Gunnar had a successful eye muscle surgery last week and the results look good, so far.

California Trip - May 2005

...back from vacation and still trying to see what new habits and skills RylEy & Gunnar have picked up. Probably unrelated, but Ryley can now climb out of her crib - so we are trying to scramble and get her toddler bed ready. They are still sharing a room - we have finally decided to add some color to their room (see future blog for photos).

Anyway, we had a great time in California. I was worried that nine days would be too many; I think we could have actually been there longer - there's plenty to do. We made the standard visits to the beach where Ryley made sure we got our cardio workout in chasing her into the waves. A visit to Legoland; definitely the kids favorite, and a visit to Sea World. Gunnar is talking quite a bit more since we arrived in California. I'm afraid he has inherited the 'Grueskin-trait' with a love for cars.

Growing, oh so fast, its hard to imagine that they will be off to preschool this August! RylEy has informed me that she doesnt like small e's and that her name is spelled with a Big E.

JoJo's visit
JoJo (a.k.a. Gramma Jo) camped out next door to Ryley & Gunnar this past week. We all had a great time.

Sleeping in...
Could it be possible that my kids are entering a new phase? The last three days they have slept in until 745 a.m. Maybe they are just practicing their sleeping in skills so Grandma Jo won't go into shock about having to get up early while she visits - just kidding, Mom. At any rate - I'm enjoying it!

Merry Christmas...

Its Christmas morning, just waiting for Grandma & Uncle Pat to arrive so we can have our 2nd annual swedish pancake fest. Then maybe a little gift opening, card playing and eventually some tasty lamb chops that Pat & Doug will be making.

Winter Wonderland
You forget as an adult, how long it takes to bundle up little ones to go out and play in the snow. Mom, it must have driven you crazy bundling up five of us! Uncle Pat & Daddy took Ryley & Gunnar sledding over the weekend.

Here they are sledding with Daddy & Uncle Pat.

Remember the angel bells?
So, who out there remembers those bells that Mom used to have around for when we were sick in multiple numbers? I do, and now I know why. Although mine are too young to understand the concept of when and why you would ring that bell, I will still begin my search for a set of bells that will in doubt be used someday. Gunnar's bell is saying, "Up, up, up" and as any good mom, I respond by picking him up - only to have vomit sprayed thru my hair and down my back. Meanwhile, not to be outdone by her brother, Ryley announces, "poopy" "hot".....you can all decipher your own meaning.... Oh the joys of parenthood. What a way to start my blog!

Life with Doppelgangers...
aha! I think I have figured this out... now I can blither blather all I want - just kidding. This will be a great way to keep everyone up to date on the Chisholms, especially Jim, when he is away. So, you wonder what's up with Doppelgangers? Look it up!
